2018 – A year in Review

As we do every year, we wanted to take the time to look back and reflect on the prior year. We saw many positive changes in 2018.

“As a patient in 2018, we hope you noticed our effort in making it easier to begin the physical therapy process. From communicating with us via our website chat feature, email or by phone, it was our desire to be available to you 24/7. In addition, we introduced further communication channels like being able to email home exercise programs, relevant articles in relation to your diagnosis, and keeping an open line of communication with your physical therapist. We hope you appreciated our ability to send appointment reminders and allowing for the ability to complete all new patient paperwork prior to your first visit. We remain focused on supporting our communities through charitable gifts and our participation in philanthropic endeavors. We remain focused on always improving our customer service experience. I always welcome your opinion on what we can do to improve your patient experience. Please feel free to email me at – jwalter@tidewaterpt.com. If you enjoyed your experience with us as a patient, please spread the word by leaving an online review on Google or our Facebook page. Here’s to reflecting on our accomplishments, learning from our oversights, and moving forward in 2019, ” said Jennifer Walter, COO/CFO.

We have been serving the beautiful shores of Delmarva for 34 wonderful years. Collectively, we have a tremendous amount of experience in the field of physical therapy, and an extremely high level of tenure in our company.  This past year we celebrated 605 years of service and collective experience in the physical therapy industry!

Our employees are highly committed to supporting the field of physical therapy. This past year, a number of our physical therapists and management members supported the industry by participating in the following leadership and educational roles:

  • Advisory Board – Wor-Wic Community College – Physical Therapist Assistant Program
  • Advisory Board – Chesapeake Area Consortium for Higher Education– Physical Therapist Assistant Program
  • Adjunct Professors – University of Maryland Eastern Shore– Doctor of Physical Therapy
  • American Physical Therapy Association(ATPA) Certified Clinical Instructors
  • Health Services Advisor – Sussex Technical High School
  • Health Care Partner – Delmarva Regional Health Care Mutual Aid Group

In 2018 we were lucky enough to add new crew members. Education and technology in the field Physical Therapy is ever-changing, so it is a positive experience when we hire a new employee. This is because we get another view on physical therapy treatment and patient care, that we may not have seen before. Our Seaford, Salisbury, Milton and Chester clinics have seen big changes with their leadership. We look forward to experiencing what our new crew members have to offer to their respective clinics and our company as a whole.

As well, this year we’ve added some new specialties! Dry Needling which we now offer in Seaford, is a skilled intervention that uses a thin filiform needle to penetrate the skin and stimulate underlying myofascial trigger points, muscular and connective tissues for the management of neuromusculoskeletal pain and movement impairments. Graston Technique® therapy or instrument assisted soft-tissue mobilization (IASTM), which we now offer in Seaford and Milton, uses a series of stainless-steel tools to gently massage the skin, treating scar tissue and fascial restrictions. This allows for faster rehabilitation and greater success in restoring range of motion, eliminating pain, and restoring normal function. Functional Movement Screening (FMS), which we now offer in Cambridge is a screening tool to identify pain and compensatory movement patterns that are indicative of increased injury risk and inefficient movement that causes reduced performance.

Lastly, in the last two years we have created key community partnerships that have proven to be a great benefit to our patients and community as a whole, pertaining to health and wellness. In 2019, we aim to continue to build upon those relationships formed and fostered, to yield the most benefit for our community. As well we hope to build new community relationships that may be of benefit to our patients, staff, and health and wellness communities across Delmarva. We strive to continue to support the communities where we live and work in an amplitude of different ways.

Here’s to 2019!
